New Delhi, July 24: The central government has taken a significant step in response to the ongoing paper leak incidents in competitive exams, including the NEET exam. On Friday, the Central Cabinet approved a bill aimed at imposing stricter penalties for those involved in paper leak cases. Sources indicate that this bill may be presented in Parliament next week.
This decision comes at a time when students across the country are protesting against paper leaks, and there has been continuous uproar in Parliament regarding this issue.
Just a day before the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Modi released a three-minute video message signaling a strong stance on the matter. He stated that the Cabinet would discuss the establishment of fast-track courts for paper leak cases and draft laws to impose severe penalties on offenders.
In his video message, the Prime Minister emphasized that paper leaks are not trivial issues. They have caused significant distress to millions of students and their parents. He assured that the government is fully committed to addressing this problem and will establish a robust legal framework to prevent such incidents in the future.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Modi also announced the creation of fast-track courts for the swift handling of paper leak cases. He directed officials from the relevant departments to initiate necessary actions immediately.
With the Cabinet’s approval, all eyes will be on Parliament next week, where this crucial bill is expected to be introduced. In connection with the NEET paper leak case, a total of 13 individuals have been arrested so far.
Additionally, the central government made a significant administrative change in the Ministry of Education on Thursday. Naresh Pal Gangwar, a 1994 batch IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Higher Education Department, succeeding Vineet Joshi.
