Chandigarh, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : In Chandigarh, Arshdeep Singh Kler, the main spokesperson for the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has raised several pressing issues concerning the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). These include the ongoing rape case involving Amarjeet Singh Chawla, the expulsion of Roop Kaur Sandhu from the party, and allegations regarding the allocation of government housing to AAP leaders.
Kler accused AAP of diverting public attention from critical issues such as the drug crisis and law enforcement failures in Punjab by frequently holding press conferences about the Chawla case. He emphasized that an FIR has been filed in this matter, and both SAD and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have removed Chawla from all positions. Kler noted that Giani Kuldeep Singh Garg, the Jathedar of the Akal Takht, has stated that the truth regarding the case should emerge within 15 days.
Regarding Roop Kaur Sandhu’s removal from the SAD, Kler stated that this matter pertains to the party’s women’s wing, which is best positioned to explain the reasons behind her expulsion.
Kler also called on the Governor of Punjab to investigate the allocation of government housing to AAP leaders, including cabinet ministers. He expressed concerns over the legitimacy of these allocations, citing Gayatri Bishnoi, who claims to reside in a ministerial residence for her father’s medical treatment. Kler insisted that clarity is needed on the criteria for using government housing.
In response to a proposed protest by the Punjab Youth Congress against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar, Kler defended the State Investigation Report (SIR) process. He asserted that his party has closely monitored the SIR process, which he described as entirely transparent.
Kler urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to focus on the law and order situation in Punjab, criticizing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for failing to maintain safety in the state. He stressed that Shah should take the current law enforcement issues seriously.
Finally, commenting on the departure of former ED Deputy Director Niranjan Singh from the party ‘Waris Punjab De,’ Kler remarked that while the organization may appear to combat drug issues from the outside, the reality within is quite different. He attributed Singh’s departure to the discrepancies between the group’s claims and the actual situation regarding the drug fight.
