Chandigarh, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : The special intensive revision of voter lists in Punjab is nearing completion, with 99.21% of the work already accomplished, according to Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra. She announced the progress on Thursday, highlighting that the process has been finalized in eight districts: Moga, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mansa, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Sangrur, Patiala, and Malerkotla.
In terms of assembly representation, the revision has been completed in 55 out of the total 117 constituencies across the state. Mitra emphasized that to ensure every eligible voter is included in the list and to minimize any inconvenience, booth level officers (BLOs) will directly contact voters who have received notices and still need to complete hearings or submit documents.
Instead of requiring these voters to visit the offices of electoral registration officers (EROs), BLOs will gather necessary documents directly from them. “This system will eliminate the need for voters to travel for personal hearings and document submissions,” Mitra stated.
For areas where the revision work is still pending, special camps will be organized over the upcoming weekend to assist voters. Additionally, help desks have been established in district election offices and ERO offices throughout the state to provide support and address any inquiries related to the voter list.
Mitra urged all voters in the state to cooperate fully with BLOs and other election officials. She also encouraged timely submission of necessary documents and information to ensure the special revision process is completed within the designated timeframe.
