AIIB Holds 11th Annual Meeting in Doha, Focuses on Future Infrastructure

Doha, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) recently convened its 11th annual meeting in Doha, Qatar, on September 28 and 29. This gathering marked a significant milestone as it was the first annual meeting after the completion of AIIB’s first decade and the first to be held in the Gulf region.

The theme of the conference was “Infrastructure for the Future: Impact and Innovation.” Delegates from around the world engaged in discussions on sustainable development and multilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global infrastructure challenges.

Founded in 2016 with 57 member countries, AIIB has seen its membership grow to 111 nations. Over its first decade, the bank approved financing exceeding $79 billion, supporting more than 400 projects worldwide.

During the event, AIIB’s General Manager, Cho Chai-yi, outlined key priorities for the upcoming decade, including impact, innovation, and integrity. The bank aims to double its annual financing approvals to approximately $20 billion by 2030. Priority will be given to infrastructure projects related to climate resilience, renewable energy, digital transformation, regional connectivity, nature conservation, and public welfare, while also supporting the long-term sustainable development of member countries.

This meeting underscores AIIB’s commitment to fostering growth and innovation in infrastructure, addressing both current needs and future challenges.
