Kolkata, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : A special investigation team from the Howrah City Police in West Bengal arrived in Delhi on Thursday to interrogate a woman who allegedly posed as an officer from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to gain access to the state secretariat, Nabanna, in Kolkata.
Police officials received information about the woman’s presence in Delhi on Wednesday evening. Following this, the Howrah City Police quickly coordinated with the Delhi Police and arrived in the capital that same night.
Currently, the woman is in the custody of the Delhi Police, where investigators from Howrah City are questioning her. They aim to uncover her true motives for impersonating a PMO officer to enter the state secretariat.
According to a police official, the investigation is also exploring whether the woman is part of an organized gang. She has been identified as Aakansha Vidyarthi and had previously scheduled an appointment at the state Public Works Department (PWD) office at Nabanna.
It is alleged that she posed as a PMO official and asked PWD officers several questions regarding their operations and procedures. However, some officials grew suspicious of her identity. Sensing their doubt, she promptly exited the Nabanna premises.
After confirming that the woman had misrepresented herself, the PWD submitted a written complaint to the Howrah City Police. By that time, she had already flown back to Delhi.
The Howrah City Police have taken the matter seriously and are investigating the possibility of organized crime behind the woman’s actions. Authorities are diligently pursuing this angle as part of their ongoing inquiry.
