
Tel Aviv, February 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on the verge of making history on foreign soil. He will address the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.
The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared a tentative schedule for the visit. PM Modi will arrive in Israel on Wednesday at 12:45 PM local time. Netanyahu will personally welcome him.
Following their arrival, the two leaders will have a brief meeting at Ben Gurion Airport. They will then head to Jerusalem, where PM Modi will be officially welcomed at the Knesset around 4:30 PM. He will address the Knesset Plenum, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. Netanyahu will speak before him.
At 6 PM, PM Modi will participate in an innovation event in Jerusalem, followed by an official dinner at the King David Hotel at 7:30 PM.
On Thursday at 9 AM, both leaders will visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center, a customary stop for visiting heads of state. According to the Prime Minister’s office, they will hold a significant meeting at the King David Hotel at 11 AM. This will be followed by the exchange of signed agreements and a joint statement to the media.
PM Modi is expected to depart from Israel at 2 PM on Thursday.
Netanyahu described PM Modi’s visit as historic during his weekly cabinet meeting and subsequent statements shared on social media. He emphasized Israel’s desire to create an “axis of countries” in the region, including India, Greece, Cyprus, and unnamed Arab, African, and Asian nations. Netanyahu framed this visit as part of a broader strategic vision.
