Lucknow, April 26: Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi was declared out for ‘obstructing the field’ during a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. With this, Angkrish became the fourth batsman in IPL history to be dismissed in this manner. Let’s take a look at the other players who have faced this unusual dismissal in the IPL.
The first player to be out in this manner was Yusuf Pathan. In 2013, while playing for KKR against Pune Warriors India, Yusuf lost his wicket due to ‘obstructing the field.’ He scored 72 runs off 44 balls in that innings.
The second name on this list is Amit Mishra. In 2019, while playing for Delhi Daredevils in Visakhapatnam, he became the second batsman to be dismissed for ‘obstructing the field’ against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Amit managed only 1 run from 2 balls in that match.
The third player is Ravindra Jadeja, who faced a similar fate in 2024 while playing for Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He scored just 5 runs off 6 balls in that innings.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi is now the fourth batsman to join this unwanted list. During the fifth over of KKR’s innings at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Angkrish hit a shot towards mid-on against Prince Yadav and sprinted for a quick run.
However, Cameron Green at the other end sent him back. In an attempt to return to the crease, Angkrish dove, but the throw from the fielder struck his leg. LSG captain Rishabh Pant and his teammates appealed to the umpire, leading to Angkrish’s dismissal for ‘obstructing the field.’
