Delhi Capitals to Challenge RCB in IPL 2026 Showdown

New Delhi, April 26: The 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will take place on Monday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, featuring Delhi Capitals (DC) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). DC aims to improve its standings in the points table with a victory, while RCB seeks to strengthen its title defense with another win.

Currently, Delhi Capitals sits seventh in the points table, having lost four out of seven matches. They previously defeated RCB by six wickets on April 18. In contrast, RCB has won five out of seven matches and is positioned second in the table, looking to reclaim the top spot with a win in this match.

This match will showcase two of the tournament’s best-performing batsmen. RCB’s Virat Kohli is in exceptional form, while DC hopes KL Rahul will lead the charge with the bat once again.

Kohli needs just 11 runs to become the first batsman in IPL history to score 9,000 runs. The stage is set for him to add another chapter to his long and memorable relationship with this historic ground, where he averages 66.8, including seven half-centuries in 11 innings.

In this season, RCB’s five victories have seen five different players awarded the ‘Player of the Match.’ The team’s fast bowling attack, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, is performing at its peak, excelling in every phase of the game.

On the batting front, Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, and Tim David are all in great form. RCB has shown a remarkable ability to maintain and accelerate the game’s pace throughout their innings this season.

On the other hand, DC is looking to bounce back after a recent loss. KL Rahul scored an impressive 152 runs off 67 balls against Punjab Kings, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for his team.

A positive for DC is that Nitish Rana has returned to form, scoring two consecutive half-centuries. However, the team faces a significant gap in its fast bowling department due to an injury to Lungi Ngidi, with Dusmantha Chameera likely to be brought in as a replacement. Fielding has also been a concern, as DC has dropped 16 catches this season, with a catch success rate of just 60%, the lowest among all teams.

For DC to secure a win, they will need strong performances from Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, along with a batting lineup that can withstand the challenge posed by RCB’s disciplined bowlers. Historically, RCB has had the upper hand against DC, winning 20 out of the 34 matches played between the two teams, with DC winning 13 and one match ending in a no result.
