New Delhi, February 9: Indian Railways has introduced a significant update to its train boarding regulations. Passengers are now required to board their trains from the station specified on their tickets.
Under this new policy, if a passenger fails to board at the designated station, the Ticket Examiner (TTE) will not wait for them until the next stop. Once the train departs from the boarding station without the passenger, their seat will be considered vacant.
During ticket inspections, the TTE will promptly record a “No Show” entry on their handheld device. This entry indicates that the passenger did not board the train at the specified station.
Once this entry is made, the seat will be marked as vacant in the system and cannot be reserved. Consequently, the railway system will automatically allocate the vacant seat to the next passenger on the waiting list. This change aims to enhance the experience for those traveling on waiting list and Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) tickets.
