
New Delhi, April 9: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi is making waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. So far this season, he has scored 155 runs in just four innings.
The tall batsman has already hit two half-centuries in the first two matches of the season. He scored 51 runs off 29 balls against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and followed it up with 52 runs off 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
In his next match, Angkrish played a brief unbeaten innings of 7 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS). In his fourth match, the 21-year-old scored 45 runs off 33 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), including two sixes and five fours.
Born on June 5, 2004, in Delhi, Angkrish left home at the tender age of 11 to pursue his cricketing dreams in Mumbai. His parents were serious about his career and wanted him to train under Abhishek Nayar. They made the tough decision to send their son to Mumbai for better training opportunities.
At just 11 years old, Angkrish moved to Mumbai, where he trained under Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi. By the age of 16, he was selected for the Under-19 World Cup 2022 team.
Angkrish emerged as the highest run-scorer for India in that World Cup, amassing 278 runs at an average of 46.33 across six matches, including a top score of 144 runs. India went on to win the title.
In 2023, Angkrish made his List-A cricket debut, followed by his first-class debut in 2024. His outstanding performances in domestic cricket post-Under-19 World Cup earned him recognition.
Before IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders acquired Angkrish for ₹20 lakhs. In that season, he played 10 matches, scoring 163 runs at an average of 23.28, including one half-century. In the following season, he played 12 matches, scoring 300 runs at an average of 33.33. After hitting two half-centuries in his first two matches of the current season, Angkrish has once again proven his mettle.
In his four first-class matches, Angkrish has scored 191 runs at an average of 38.20, while in 18 List-A matches, he has accumulated 535 runs at an average of 33.43. In his IPL career spanning 26 matches, he has scored 618 runs at an average of 32.52.
