
New Delhi, April 14: Earthquake tremors have been reported in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir and Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Fortunately, no damage has been reported from either location so far. Local authorities have been put on alert following the incidents.
According to the National Center for Seismology, a tremor measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale was felt in the Bhaderwah Valley and surrounding areas of Doda district at 4:55 AM on Tuesday. However, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
In Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, tremors were felt at 7:07 AM on the same day, with a recorded intensity of 3.4 on the Richter scale. The district administration has become vigilant and is currently inspecting the earthquake center. Similar to Doda, no damage has been reported in this region either.
Earlier, on April 12, a tremor measuring 4.6 was felt in Doda district, occurring at 4:32 AM. This is not the first time Doda has experienced seismic activity; a tremor of 4.2 was recorded on March 1, 2026. While there was no significant damage during that incident, it did cause panic among residents.
Additionally, on April 11, tremors were felt in parts of Hingoli district in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region, with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale. Neighboring districts Nanded and Parbhani also experienced tremors. District Collector Rahul Gupta reported that some areas in Pangra Shinde village showed signs of the earthquake, with cracks appearing in a few houses and community centers. Fortunately, there were no reports of loss of life or property.
