Kiran Rijiju Advocates for Womens Reservation Bill as a Historic Step for Empowerment

New Delhi, April 14: Union Minister Kiran Rijiju has emphasized that the Women’s Reservation Bill should not be politicized. He believes it should be viewed as a historic step towards women’s empowerment. Rijiju stated that interpreting this issue through a political lens would be unjust to women.

In a recent conversation, he noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all political parties to rise above party politics and support this bill. Known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, the bill aims to enhance women’s representation in Parliament and state assemblies. Rijiju mentioned that this is a matter that has previously garnered support from all parties, and efforts are now underway for its implementation.

He called for discussions in Parliament and urged all parties to participate collectively. According to him, if all MPs unite to pass this bill, it will send a significant message to the world about India’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Rijiju also asserted that there is nothing controversial in this bill. Whether it concerns seat reservations, delimitation, or any other provisions, every aspect has been crafted clearly and simply. He claimed that there are no points that could raise serious objections, suggesting that any dissent would be politically motivated.

He urged all parties not to view this as a win or loss for any single party. This decision should represent the entire nation. He stressed that the credit for this law belongs not to one individual or party, but to the collective achievement of Parliament and all its members.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary, Rijiju paid tribute to him. He shared that he, along with the Prime Minister and Vice President, offered floral tributes at Baba Saheb’s memorial. Rijiju remarked that Ambedkar’s thoughts continue to guide the nation.

He mentioned that whenever he feels confused or uncertain, he listens to Dr. Ambedkar’s speeches and reads his writings. This practice provides him with renewed energy, inspiration, and direction. According to him, Ambedkar’s ideas remain as relevant today as they were in the past, serving as a guiding light for every citizen of the country.
