New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP Naresh Bansal has raised concerns about the proposed meeting of the India bloc, questioning the unity among opposition parties and addressing various political issues, including the SIR process and controversies surrounding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He specifically targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, expressing skepticism about the public’s trust in Yadav’s promises related to madrasa issues and teacher salaries.
In an interview, Bansal stated that the electorate would not believe Yadav’s pledges. He also commented on the removal of parts of religious sites during road widening in Ujjain and the Supreme Court’s hearings related to the SIR.
Regarding the upcoming India bloc meeting, Bansal noted that clarity on participating parties and leaders would emerge only after the event. He suggested that coalition members are uneasy about moving forward under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, which may lead to some parties distancing themselves from the meeting.
Responding to Yadav’s statement about divine calling, Bansal remarked that a person who acts in accordance with their faith visits temples regularly, while those who do not may find excuses to avoid them.
Bansal criticized Yadav’s commitments to resolve madrasa and mosque-related issues in Uttar Pradesh, asserting that Yadav knows his government will not come to power, making such promises untrustworthy. He predicted a return of Yogi Adityanath‘s government in the state.
He agreed with BJP President Nitin Nabin’s appeal to party leaders to avoid accepting expensive gifts, particularly gold and silver crowns, emphasizing the importance of maintaining integrity in public life. Bansal described this as a guiding principle for purifying politics and upholding decorum among political figures.
On the potential appointment of a new chairman for the Bihar Legislative Council following the resignation of Avadhesh Narayan Singh, Bansal stated that positions in the coalition government would be determined by local political dynamics, with the new chairman expected to be elected by consensus.
Commenting on the Supreme Court’s refusal for an immediate hearing on petitions regarding the removal of names from the voter list, Bansal noted that the court made its decision based on what it deemed appropriate. He added that the lack of urgency suggested the court did not see an immediate need for the hearing.
Bansal criticized the Congress party’s approach during the Congress Working Committee meeting, which aimed to strategize against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and advance the SIR issue. He claimed that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress has failed to play an effective opposition role, resulting in diminished public trust.
Addressing the planned protest at Jantar Mantar against the SIR, Bansal accused Congress of adopting a double standard regarding constitutional institutions. He pointed out that Congress supports the EVM and Election Commission when winning elections but questions their integrity when they lose. He also criticized Congress’s stance on various constitutional matters and national issues, suggesting that the party’s approach is inconsistent.
Regarding the road widening in Ujjain, which involved the removal of a three-foot section of the Shahin Mosque, Bansal stated that the project also affected parts of temples. He emphasized that the road widening was necessary to prevent incidents during large events like the Kumbh Mela. He claimed that those associated with temples did not object to the project and mentioned that the Chief Minister had personally overseen the removal of his ancestral home for the road work. Bansal alleged that an agreement existed between the administration and mosque management concerning the removal, but some individuals attempted to spread rumors to create unrest.
