Joint Military Exercise Kazind-2026 Kicks Off in Kazakhstan

Oskemen, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The joint military exercise ‘Kazind-2026’ between India and Kazakhstan officially began on September 29 in Oskemen, Kazakhstan. Major General Zhenis Maralov, head of the Regional Command East of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces, was present at the opening ceremony. This exercise aims to address scenarios involving terrorist activities through a variety of operations, including raids on terrorist hideouts, search and destroy missions, and cordon and search operations.

The primary focus of ‘Kazind-2026′ is a collaborative anti-terrorism campaign. Troops from both nations will undergo training tailored for semi-urban and mountainous terrains. They will plan and execute operations together, with particular attention given to air mobility. The Indian contingent primarily comprises soldiers from a battalion of the Garhwal Rifles, along with personnel from other military branches and the Indian Air Force.

During the exercise, a joint command center and intelligence and surveillance center will be established. These centers will facilitate the planning and coordination of operations between the two nations’ forces. At the conclusion of the exercise, both militaries will conduct a comprehensive validation exercise, applying the strategies, techniques, and processes learned during training against a simulated terrorist threat. This will assess their ability to collaborate effectively in real-world operations.

‘Kazind-2026’ provides an opportunity for soldiers from both countries to learn from each other’s operational experiences while strengthening mutual trust and professional relationships. The exercise also reinforces the commitment of India and Kazakhstan to enhance military cooperation and promote regional peace, stability, and collective security.

The exercise is set to continue until October 11 and marks the ninth iteration of the Kazind series. During this period, integrated use of unmanned aerial systems and counter-drone technologies will also be implemented, allowing both forces to enhance their coordination in anti-terrorism operations using modern technology.
