
Jining, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Nishan World Civilization Forum was inaugurated on September 28, 2026, in Qufu, Jining city, Shandong Province. The forum’s theme is “Civilization, Governance, and Justice,” featuring subtopics such as “The Contemporary Value and Global Significance of Confucianism,” “Civilizational Resilience and Global Governance,” “Ideological Dialogue and Civilizational Integration,” and “Artificial Intelligence and Global Harmony.”
During the opening ceremony, Jin Minqing, director of the Contemporary China Studies Institute, emphasized the need to abandon notions of civilizational superiority and conflict. He urged respect for the historical traditions, values, and developmental paths of various civilizations. Jin advocated for a global governance model based on consultation, joint contributions, and shared benefits, promoting mutual respect to achieve consensus on rules among different cultures. He also called for the establishment of a community with a shared future for humanity, aiming for common development, sustainable peace, and prosperity.
In a video address, Thomas Bach, honorary president of the International Olympic Committee, noted the similarities between Confucianism and Olympic ideals. He expressed hope that the forum would provide an opportunity to connect Confucius’s wisdom with the Olympic spirit.
