Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Advocates for AI and Better Governance at Mission Karmayogi Workshop

Vijayawada, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, called for revolutionary changes in governance systems and institutions on Tuesday. Speaking at the Mission Karmayogi workshop in Vijayawada, he stressed the importance of leveraging new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to meet the expectations of the public.

Naidu highlighted the need to integrate technology, leadership, and policy to build trust among citizens. He emphasized enhancing skills, focusing on universities, and fostering innovation. He believes the next 20 years will be crucial for India’s development and urged government employees to continuously improve their skills through capacity building programs.

The Chief Minister noted that India is rich in opportunities, modern technology, and a talented youth population with rising aspirations. However, he pointed out that the main challenge lies in strengthening governance systems and institutions to fulfill these aspirations.

Using Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s journey to leadership as a key example, Naidu mentioned the launch of the ‘I Got – Mission Karmayogi’ initiative. This online training platform aims to help officials and employees regularly enhance their capabilities. He stressed the need for government employees to undergo continuous training to provide quality public services from the state to the grassroots level.

Naidu congratulated the Andhra Pradesh government for completing two million courses through the I Got Karmayogi portal, which has positioned the state at the forefront of capacity building. He advocated for better coordination between technology, administrative processes, and government departments to improve the quality of public services. Enhanced information sharing among departments would facilitate quicker decision-making and problem-solving before crises escalate.

He also acknowledged the crucial role of government employees in managing natural disasters, organizing festivals, and executing large public events. Naidu commended their dedication to public service, often at the expense of time spent with family.

Under the Mission Karmayogi initiative, Andhra Pradesh has achieved the top national ranking in capacity building for government employees. Naidu presented awards to Piyush Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, and Alaparthi Venkateshwara Rao, Executive Director of the AP State Development Planning Society, for their contributions.

Awards were also given to Karnataka and Odisha for securing second and third places, respectively, in capacity building performance. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission, underscored the need for enhancing the capabilities of government officials in the era of modern technologies like AI.

She stated that the principle of ‘Citizen Devo Bhava’ (treating citizens as divine) has become a guiding philosophy for both central and state governments. Government employees must align their conduct, administrative capabilities, performance, and skills with this principle.

Chauhan added that public sector organizations responsible for training government officials are implementing initiatives like ‘Unnati’ through the Capacity Building Commission. Such regional workshops offer opportunities for exchanging best practices and enhancing capabilities.
