Bihar Congress Demands All-Party Committee Investigation into Bharat Tiwaris Death

Patna, June 22: The Bihar government has announced a judicial inquiry into the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, who was killed in a police encounter in Bhojpur district. In light of this, the Bihar Congress has called for an investigation by an all-party assembly committee into the entire incident.

On Sunday, Rajesh Ram, the president of the Bihar Pradesh Congress, visited Bhojpur to meet Tiwari’s family and offer condolences. He also spoke with local residents to gather information related to the murder case.

Rajesh Ram described Tiwari’s death as a grave and alarming incident. He accused the police of operating like an organized hitman gang in this case. Bharat Tiwari was a social activist who fought for the rights of the marginalized and oppressed, making him a target for the government.

The state Congress president stated that both the local administration and the state government are under suspicion regarding their roles in this incident. He demanded a fair investigation by the Bihar assembly’s all-party committee to uncover the truth and ensure justice for the perpetrators.

Rajesh Ram emphasized that the Congress party stands firmly with the victim’s family and is committed to fighting for justice, no matter how long it takes. He asserted that attempts to silence any citizen’s voice in a democracy are unacceptable. Accompanying Rajesh Ram were Minnat Rahmani, Asit Nath Tiwari, Pankaj Yadav, and Premchand Singh.

It is noteworthy that amid rising controversy and political pressure over the encounter in the Shahpur police station area of Bhojpur, the Bihar government ordered a judicial inquiry on Saturday. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced that a retired High Court judge would conduct an independent investigation to examine all facts and disputed aspects of the case.
