New Delhi, June 22: The Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case from Bhojpur, Bihar, has now reached the Supreme Court. Advocate Vishal Tiwari has filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting a CBI investigation into the matter.
The petition also calls for the formation of an independent expert committee led by a retired Supreme Court judge. Vishal Tiwari claims that Bharat Bhushan Tiwari’s death is a case of alleged ‘fake encounter’ and has submitted a public interest litigation (PIL) to this effect.
The petition demands that an FIR be registered against the police officers involved in the encounter and that the case be investigated by the CBI. Additionally, it requests the establishment of an independent expert committee to uphold the rule of law, chaired by a retired Supreme Court judge. The petitioner alleges that Bharat Bhushan Tiwari’s death constitutes murder and necessitates a fair investigation.
Meanwhile, BJP member and Bhojpuri cinema star Pawan Singh expressed his condolences regarding the incident and called for an impartial investigation. He stated on social media that the late Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Belauti, Bhojpur, only wanted representatives and administrative officials to address the public’s issues and ensure that poor, marginalized, and flood-affected families are not deprived of their rights.
Singh described Tiwari as a vigilant and sensitive individual who fought for society. He consistently raised the voices of the poor, the helpless, Dalits, and those in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, floods, and other challenging situations, he went above and beyond in his community service. Numerous instances exist where he collaborated with administrative officials, police officers, and community members for public welfare initiatives.
He added that the circumstances surrounding Tiwari’s death have shaken the entire community. Many questions are being raised about this incident. If the information and videos circulated through various media are accurate, it is essential to conduct a fair, transparent, and just investigation into the entire sequence of events so that the truth can be revealed to the public.
