Kolkata, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Kunal Ghosh, a legislator from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to undermine West Bengal‘s economy following comments made by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy regarding the Deucha Pachami coal mining project. Ghosh emphasized that the project, initiated under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s previous administration, represents a significant achievement for the state and its future. He suggested that the BJP is not in favor of a robust economy for West Bengal.
In a recent parliamentary address, G. Kishan Reddy confirmed that the operational date for the Deucha Pachami project, located in Birbhum district, has been scheduled for September 27, 2027.
Ghosh also raised concerns about recent attacks in Hooghly and Beliaghata, asserting that he has faced six assaults since the elections. He recounted an incident from Saturday when his car was attacked while he was en route to a program featuring Mamata Banerjee. He claimed that the video of the incident shows involvement from local BJP leaders, and noted that his car’s window was shattered during the attack, resulting in injuries.
Additionally, Ghosh welcomed the interim bail granted to Congress candidate Milan Pradhan in the Nandigram by-election, alleging that Pradhan’s arrest was politically motivated. He stated that the arrest occurred immediately after Banerjee expressed her support for him.
Targeting BJP National President Nitin Naveen, Ghosh described his statements as reflecting desperation. He declared, “Despite the conspiracies, the ‘lioness’ is still alive. Bengal is ready to fight.”
Ghosh further accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the electoral process, alleging vote theft and a post-election police crackdown aimed at destabilizing the TMC. He asserted that, despite these challenges, Mamata Banerjee remains one of West Bengal’s most popular leaders.
