Kolkata, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister Jitin Prasad recently addressed the Kolkata Chamber of Commerce, emphasizing West Bengal‘s potential as not just a destination for investment but also a center for the nation’s technological talent. He announced that the central government’s upcoming mega industrial projects will focus significantly on the state.
Prasad stated, “This is Bengal’s golden era, where after decades, a double engine of growth is running. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership at the national level and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari‘s guidance in West Bengal, we are rapidly addressing past shortcomings. Bengal will be a priority, and the central government will fully support its infrastructure development.”
He noted that the youth of West Bengal are eager to engage in the technology sector and startups, and the government plans to provide substantial incentives for this. A grand plan is underway to establish an industrial city in the state, positioning West Bengal as India’s talent capital. The government aims to equip young people with skills in areas like AI and semiconductors, and is actively seeking locations for data centers to attract investment and create job opportunities.
Prasad further mentioned that the Ministry of Commerce is working on an ambitious plan to promote industry and manufacturing. This initiative will involve developing industrial cities where companies can invest and establish new factories. He highlighted the rapid progress India is making in the information technology and electronics sectors.
The central government is also introducing incentives to enhance West Bengal’s capacity to become a significant hub for electronics manufacturing. There are substantial opportunities for attracting major investments in semiconductors and data centers to the state.
