Moscow, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the media on September 29, emphasizing the need to closely examine Russia’s military doctrine in light of Poland’s plans to host the production of Patriot missiles. His remarks came during the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
According to Russian news agency TASS, Lavrov stated, “We have a military doctrine on this matter, which President Vladimir Putin has referenced multiple times. I urge you to study the relevant sections of this crucial document carefully.”
Earlier, Poland’s Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowicz-Jarneka announced that Poland had proposed a joint production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems in collaboration with the United States, aimed at enhancing security for Ukraine. Currently, Warsaw is organizing its 50th batch of military aid to Ukraine, with the total cost of all weapon packages provided to Kyiv since 2022 reaching approximately $5 billion.
Concerns had previously arisen in the summer of 2026 regarding a scandal involving the supply of missiles for the Patriot system to Ukrainian forces under NATO assistance in Poland. Opposition leaders accused officials of jeopardizing Poland’s security.
In April, Lavrov remarked during a meeting with representatives of Russian non-governmental organizations that Western nations had effectively declared war against Russia by supporting Ukraine. He noted, “An open war has been declared against us. The Kyiv regime is being used as a ‘spearhead.’ But everyone knows that this ‘spearhead’ is helpless without the physical support of Western weapons, intelligence data, satellite systems, and military training.”
Lavrov also highlighted a public statement from someone in the Belgian General Staff, indicating preparations for war against Russia, with Ukraine assisting in buying time.
He warned at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, “For the third time in modern human history, a global threat will arise from Europe. They are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukraine becomes the trigger for this global threat.”
