Gandhinagar, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections are just under two weeks away, prompting the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to convene a meeting with party workers in the state capital.
The gathering aimed to strengthen grassroots organization, enhance direct voter outreach, and communicate information about developmental and welfare schemes effectively.
State BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma led the meeting, which included Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and State Organization General Secretary Ratnakar. The GMC elections, covering 11 wards and 44 seats, are scheduled for October 11, with vote counting set for October 13.
Vishwakarma addressed the party workers, emphasizing that the grassroots worker is the “real foundation” of the BJP organization. He stressed that the party’s ideology and development message can only reach the public if workers actively engage with them.
He urged attendees to focus on effective outreach, direct communication with citizens, and collaboration while informing them about government welfare schemes and development initiatives.
He further noted, “Under the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, significant development work has been undertaken in Gandhinagar.”
Sanghvi highlighted the city’s notable progress in development and reiterated the ongoing efforts for comprehensive urban growth. He encouraged workers to advance with a commitment to public service, placing the hopes and needs of citizens at the forefront of their endeavors. The organizational structure of the BJP, extending down to the booth level, is its greatest strength.
The meeting coincided with the deadline for withdrawing nominations for the municipal elections. The State Election Commission set September 26 as the last date for filing nominations, September 28 for scrutiny, and September 29 for withdrawal. In the previous GMC elections in 2021, the BJP secured 41 seats, while the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party won two and one seat, respectively.
The meeting was attended by MPs, MLAs, and various party leaders and officials.
