Telangana CM Urges Voters to Reject Hate Politics in Upcoming Elections

Hyderabad, February 9: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called on voters to reject hate politics ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for February 11.

During a press conference, the Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing it of engaging in divisive politics and spreading communal hatred.

Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP is using leaders like AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi as a “political scarecrow” to gain votes. He stated, “The BJP is obsessed with Asaduddin Owaisi. They claim to invoke the name of Lord Ram, yet mention Owaisi daily. Owaisi is their political lifeline.”

He questioned why, if Owaisi is so “dangerous,” the BJP has failed to control him while in power at the center.

“The AIMIM is also a political party in a democracy. It has contested elections in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and other states. How long will they continue to seek votes by scaring people with ghosts?” he asked.

The Congress leader described this behavior as evidence of the BJP’s political bankruptcy.

Referring to a speech by BJP state president Nitin Nabin during an election rally in Mahbubnagar, Revanth Reddy criticized the BJP for seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He recalled that when Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he promised to grant national status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy project during his campaign in Mahbubnagar, a promise that remains unfulfilled after three terms as Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister expressed strong objections to the BJP invoking Modi’s name in local elections, questioning, “What does Modi have to do with local elections?”

Revanth Reddy accused the BJP of failing to approve any projects for Telangana despite being in power for 12 years, while its leaders continue to seek votes in Modi’s name.

He noted, “The IT Investment Region (ITIR) project approved for Telangana was canceled. The semiconductor project was also pressured to move from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh.”

The Chief Minister further accused the BJP of discriminating against southern states. He claimed that Telangana receives only 42 paise for every rupee given to the center. In comparison, Karnataka receives 16 paise, Tamil Nadu 26 paise, and Kerala 49 paise, while Bihar gets ₹6.16, Madhya Pradesh ₹2.09, and Uttar Pradesh ₹2.90 for every rupee.

Revanth Reddy questioned why central ministers from Telangana, G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, have never raised their voices against this injustice faced by the state.
