Nagpur, June 25: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a strong response to a letter written by Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut to the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Fadnavis emphasized that no one in the state will be allowed to create fear through bomb threats or intimidation.
In a conversation with reporters, Fadnavis stated, “We will not allow anyone’s home to be bombed, and there is no need for anyone to fear such hollow threats. If someone is making threats, the police are fully capable and will respond decisively.”
He assured that the police are vigilant in maintaining law and order and that appropriate and strict legal action will be taken in this matter.
Raut’s letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti demanded the registration of a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against MP Sanjay Dina Patil, who recently joined the Shinde faction, and called for his arrest.
In his letter, Raut asserted that citizens have the constitutional right to question their elected representatives and express dissent. He accused the six MPs who left the party of facing public backlash across the state, alleging that Sanjay Dina Patil has threatened protesters.
According to Raut, voters in the Mumbai North-East constituency are protesting against Patil. He claimed that instead of answering the public’s questions, Patil has resorted to intimidation.
Raut alleged that Patil has reportedly said, “Don’t mess with me. Before protesting against me, get life insurance, because I will send you straight to the cemetery or the hospital. I have already killed five people. If anyone protests against me, I will throw a bomb at them or kill them in their home.”
Citing these alleged statements, Raut demanded that a murder case be filed against Patil, as he has admitted to having killed five people.
Additionally, Raut called for a raid on Patil’s residence with the assistance of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). He stressed that threats of bomb usage by a sitting MP are extremely serious. If bombs are being made in his home, an immediate investigation should be conducted, and he should be arrested under the UAPA.
Following this controversy, tensions have escalated between the Thackeray and Shinde factions in the Mumbai North-East area, creating a charged political atmosphere.
