Mumbai, March 6: R.N. Ravi has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal following the resignation of C.V. Anand Bose. In response, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh expressed optimism that Ravi’s leadership could enhance the state’s law and order situation.
During a media interaction on Friday, Ghosh stated, “A new governor is coming, and we welcome him. We are pleased that an IPS officer is taking on the governor’s role in Bengal. The law and order situation here is dire. We hope for improvements under his oversight.”
It is noteworthy that there has been ongoing tension between the West Bengal government, led by Mamata Banerjee, and Governor C.V. Anand Bose, particularly regarding law and order issues. Bose resigned just before the state assembly elections, and President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation, appointing R.N. Ravi from Tamil Nadu as his successor.
Ghosh further commented, “People in Bengal are dying due to lack of proper medical care. Very few patients are taken for treatment. The roads are in poor condition. If a sick person is taken to the hospital, they might die on the way. The chaos here is distressing for the residents.”
The BJP leader also addressed discussions about the possibility of President’s Rule in Bengal. He remarked, “If President’s Rule is to be imposed in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee cannot prevent it. However, a change in the governor does not automatically mean President’s Rule is in effect.”
He indicated that the potential for President’s Rule arises from the current situation under Mamata Banerjee, particularly due to delays and irregularities in the SIR process. He warned that elections cannot occur until the final voter list is released. If the situation continues as it is, President’s Rule may become necessary, and everyone should be prepared for that outcome.
