Punjab Government Launches Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyaan Satkaar Yojana for Womens Financial Support

Chandigarh, April 4: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has fulfilled his promise to provide financial assistance to women. The Punjab government officially announced the Chief Minister Mawan Dhiyaan Satkaar Yojana on Thursday. This initiative took effect across Punjab on April 2, 2026.

Under this scheme, all eligible women in Punjab will receive a fixed monthly amount. Women from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while those from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month in financial aid.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the primary aim of this initiative is to enhance women’s financial security, promote self-reliance, and strengthen their participation in household economic decision-making. Additionally, the scheme aims to foster gender equality and inclusive development.

To qualify for the scheme, women must be 18 years or older, permanent residents of Punjab, and registered voters. It is mandatory for them to possess an Aadhaar card and a voter ID. Beneficiaries must also have their bank accounts linked to their Aadhaar.

However, regular or retired employees of the central or state government, pensioners, taxpayers (who paid taxes in the previous year), and serving or former ministers, MPs, or MLAs and their spouses are not eligible for this scheme.

Financial assistance will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account linked to their Aadhaar through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Registration will be completely free and can be done at Anganwadi centers and service centers.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, the government has formed a high-level implementation committee chaired by the Chief Secretary. This committee has been granted the authority to make all decisions related to the scheme.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that this initiative will empower women economically and strengthen their family’s status. The government’s goal is to ensure timely benefits reach every eligible woman.

The Punjab government has also decided to establish a network of mobilizers and facilitators to effectively implement the scheme, particularly in rural areas, to raise awareness and assist with registrations.

This scheme is being hailed as a significant gift for the women of Punjab.
