Lucknow, April 4: The International Buddhist Conclave 2026, held at the Mahaparinirvana site of Lord Buddha in Kushinagar, concluded with promising investment opportunities. During the three-day event, proposals worth approximately ₹3,000 crores were presented for tourism-related sectors.
The primary aim of the conclave was to attract investments to develop the region as an international tourist destination and to establish Uttar Pradesh as a global hub for Buddhist tourism.
Over 2,300 Buddhist devotees and tourists participated, including more than 2,000 monks, scholars, policymakers, and experts from various fields. Additionally, over 300 international guests arrived from countries such as Thailand, Japan, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Nepal.
The conclave highlighted significant investment proposals in tourism-related sectors. Companies involved in hotel and resort development, real estate, bio-CNG, and food processing expressed interest in investing. Discussions also included plans to develop two new townships, which could accelerate the city’s growth in the future.
It was emphasized that Buddhist tourism should not be limited to pilgrimage but should also promote cultural exchange, local businesses, and sustainable development. Improved connectivity from Kushinagar International Airport was also showcased, raising expectations for an increase in foreign tourist arrivals.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the state government’s continuous efforts have positioned Kushinagar as a key center for global Buddhist tourism. The large participation of representatives and investors from both domestic and international platforms indicates that Kushinagar is becoming an attractive destination for both faith and investment.
The minister further noted that this event has unveiled investment possibilities worth around ₹3,000 crores, which will accelerate growth in tourism, hotels, transportation, and infrastructure, creating new job opportunities at the local level. The state government is fully committed to swiftly implementing these investment proposals to enhance the overall development of Kushinagar.
