Navsari, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a gathering in Navsari, Gujarat, on September 8, recounting a touching experience from his tenure as Chief Minister. He shared how he once encouraged a girl from a poor tribal family to pursue her education, and years later, she returned to him as a nurse.
During his early years as Chief Minister, Modi traveled from village to village under the ‘Kanya Kelvani Abhiyan’ initiative, aimed at promoting education for girls. He recalled, “In the sweltering heat of 44 degrees on June 13, 14, and 15, I visited villages where electricity was scarce, and fans were a luxury. I would hold the hands of young girls and take them to school, urging their parents to educate them.”
He noted that such efforts rarely received media coverage at the time, neither in newspapers nor on television. However, years later, when he returned to those villages, he found the girls had grown up. “They come to me with old photographs, saying, ‘Sir, you took me to school, and now I am a nurse. I am in my final year of studies,’” he recounted.
Modi expressed that such moments bring him greater satisfaction than the years spent in public service. He emphasized that witnessing the success of a girl from a disadvantaged tribal family after 18 to 20 years is among his greatest joys. He stated that dedicated service often yields results many years later, and the blessings of the people serve as a vital source of energy and inspiration. The Prime Minister concluded by asserting that the ultimate goal of politics and public service should be to serve the citizens.
