Congress Files FIR Against Dhirendra Shastri in West Bengal: Dilip Ghosh Responds

Kolkata, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Kolkata, the Congress party has filed a police complaint against Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham. Minister Dilip Ghosh responded to the situation, suggesting that the FIR is an attempt by Congress to prove its relevance.

Shastri’s recent appeal to ban meat consumption and its sale in West Bengal has sparked controversy. Ghosh remarked, “He has expressed his opinion. If someone agrees, they will follow it. Over 50% of people in this country are vegetarian. Even here, all followers of Anukul Thakur are predominantly vegetarian.”

Ghosh emphasized that many people in West Bengal have consumed meat and fish for centuries. He noted that God has provided these resources, and their consumption has historically occurred without conflict. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has also addressed this issue, asserting that there are currently no restrictions on food choices in the state.

“Those who consume meat regularly often set aside one or two days for vegetarian meals. It’s a personal choice,” Ghosh added.

Following Shastri’s call for a ban on meat, Congress lodged a complaint at the Bhawanipur police station against him.

In a separate statement, Ghosh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated, “India’s stature is rising globally. If these three major powers collaborate, it will alleviate the expansionist and imperialist pressures that have troubled many nations. This cooperation is essential, and Asia’s economy will dominate the world.”

Additionally, Ghosh commended Modi’s fitness and the ‘Fit India Movement,’ highlighting that at 76, the Prime Minister sets a positive example. He encouraged the younger generation to prioritize fitness alongside financial pursuits.
