Bhopal, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Bhopal, focusing on the dairy and livestock economy of Madhya Pradesh. His visit coincides with a state-level livestock conference, expected to draw over 35,000 farmers and members of dairy cooperatives.
Shah will arrive in Bhopal on the evening of October 2 and will stay overnight. On October 3, he will participate in various programs related to farmers, livestock, cooperatives, new criminal laws, higher education, and road infrastructure.
The livestock conference on October 3 will be the highlight of his visit. Participants are expected from various districts, including Sehore, Betul, Rajgarh, Harda, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shajapur, Vidisha, Raisen, and Narmadapuram.
This event comes as the Madhya Pradesh government seeks to expand welfare schemes for farmers and livestock, while also strengthening the cooperative network in agriculture and dairy sectors.
During his visit, Shah is expected to distribute bonuses to dairy farmers associated with the Bhopal and Indore milk unions and provide financial assistance to gaushalas (cow shelters). The program will also honor women dairy farmers and distribute approval letters under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu scheme.
The central minister will receive updates on initiatives taken during the state’s Farmer Welfare Year and the Balram Agricultural Festival. Presentations will be made by various departments, including Home, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Cooperation, Public Works, and Transport.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed the arrangements for Shah’s visit on Monday, directing officials to finalize seating, drinking water, sanitation, security, and traffic management.
The visit is expected to emphasize promoting cooperative institutions and dairy infrastructure as part of agricultural and rural livelihood programs. The dairy sector is likely to receive a boost during this visit, with proposals for a ₹255 crore dairy plant in Ujjain and a facility in Bhopal for processing formulated and fermented milk products.
A facility built at a cost of ₹16.80 crore in the Bhopal Milk Union complex aims to enhance processing capacity for value-added products like yogurt, buttermilk, lassi, shrikhand, and mawa. This farmer-centric event is also occurring against the backdrop of expanding the farmer ID system in the state.
