Washington, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran regarding the Flydubai passenger plane incident. He stated that if it is determined that Iran was behind the attack on the aircraft, the U.S. would respond with “very strong action.” He emphasized that investigations are underway to explore any potential Iranian connections.
Speaking to reporters before departing from the White House for Texas, Trump addressed questions about whether the co-pilot involved in the incident had ties to Iran. He remarked, “We are currently working on this. They are sharing all information with us. Based on what I am hearing, the answer is yes, but we are still investigating.”
When asked if the individual could have been sent by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or radicalized in another manner, Trump acknowledged, “Yes, that could be possible.” However, he did not provide any evidence linking Iran to the incident and reiterated that the investigation is ongoing.
Later in the conversation, Trump was directly asked if the U.S. would retaliate if it is confirmed that Iran was involved. He responded, “There will be a very strong attack on them. Don’t worry about that. Just ask them. They know what happened.”
The president also discussed Iran’s economy, military capabilities, and the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz. He noted, “Inflation in Iran is now at 301 percent. Their currency is worthless. Their economy is finished.” He claimed that the U.S. is extracting more oil from the Strait of Hormuz now than at any time in history, including before the war.
Trump praised the U.S. military, stating that they are now in a position to determine Iran’s next move. He expressed confidence in the Navy and the armed forces, saying, “They have done a tremendous job. Now I have to decide whether they will sign a very fair agreement or if they will cease to exist.”
Earlier, Trump reiterated that Iran would not be permitted to possess nuclear weapons. He asserted, “They cannot and will not have nuclear weapons. They are agreeing that they will not have them.”
When asked about the potential political implications of a conflict with Iran on the upcoming midterm elections, Trump acknowledged it could have an impact but maintained that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons should be politically beneficial.
The Flydubai incident involved a flight from Dubai to Israel that was diverted toward Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that the co-pilot attacked the Indian captain and attempted to crash the plane. The captain managed to open the cockpit door, allowing other passengers to intervene and safely land the aircraft.
Officials from several countries are investigating the incident, but as of Thursday, no public evidence has emerged to confirm Iran’s involvement.
