Jaipur, September 9 (Kiran News) — The monsoon has started showing signs of weakening in RAJASTHAN, with most parts of the state witnessing clear skies on Monday. However, alerts for heavy rainfall remain in place for Jaisalmer and Barmer, where schools have been ordered shut on Tuesday.

Monsoon Alert

In the past 24 hours, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, and Sirohi districts received 1–2 inches of rain due to the impact of a depression system. Heavy rainfall in Jalore caused soil erosion on the Bharatmala Expressway, washing away a large stretch of the highway.

Tragic incidents were reported from different parts of the state:

  • In Bharatpur, the collapse of a house claimed two lives.

  • In Deeg’s Dubokar village, a two-storey house caved in, killing a brother and sister, and injuring four others.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, the low-pressure system over southwest Rajasthan has moved towards southeast Pakistan after intensifying into a deep depression. It is expected to gradually weaken over the next 24 hours. As a result, rainfall activity in Rajasthan is likely to slow from September 10, with mostly clear weather in several districts. Still, heavy rain has been predicted for Jaisalmer and Barmer on September 9.
