New Delhi, August 8: Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat has stated that the government is sensitive to the ongoing student protests against the paper leaks of JPSC and JSSC in Jharkhand. He emphasized that an impartial investigation is underway. The discussions held with students on Friday evening were also positive. However, the BJP appears disappointed as it finds no political opportunity in this issue.
Regarding the first formal dialogue between the government and students on Friday evening, Bhagat noted that the fasting students expressed their agreement, and several constructive points emerged during the discussions.
He referenced Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s earlier statement, where the Chief Minister clearly mentioned that if the investigation reaches the Chief Minister’s residence, he would not back down. This is evident as Ajita Bhattacharya, the wife of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya, has also been summoned by the investigative agency. Others connected to the case are also being called for questioning.
Bhagat criticized the BJP, stating that the opposition is disheartened because it lacks the opportunity to politicize this matter.
He raised questions regarding the demand for a CBI investigation into the paper leak case. Bhagat pointed out that while there is a continuous call for a CBI inquiry, it is essential to consider the outcomes of previous cases where such investigations were requested.
He asserted that the ongoing CID investigation is progressing with seriousness, and actions have already been taken against several individuals. The investigation is still in progress, and the agency should be allowed to complete its work.
The Congress MP mentioned that Rahul Gandhi has long been vocal about the need for reforms in the examination system and issues like paper leaks. Due to flaws in various examination systems, including the NTA, millions of youths’ futures are at stake. Therefore, Rahul Gandhi’s aim is not to seek political gain or loss but to demand improvements in the system. He stated that a large number of students look up to Rahul Gandhi and he is working to amplify their voices.
Bhagat also questioned the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during the parliamentary monsoon session. He insisted that the presence of the Prime Minister and Home Minister is crucial in the highest temple of democracy, Parliament. If the top leaders of the government are absent from Parliament but appear in party meetings and other events, it sends a wrong message to the public. He remarked that such behavior is not in line with the dignity of the positions of Prime Minister or Home Minister.
On the topic of renaming Aligarh, he remarked that when the BJP government fails in its plans and execution, it resorts to such actions. The Bharatiya Janata Party is adept at this, as it fails to deliver results.
