Patna, September 3: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, inspected the Control Command Center located at the Irrigation Building on Thursday. During his visit, he conducted a review via video conferencing of ongoing flood-fighting efforts in various sensitive and flood-affected areas of the state. Special attention was given to the rising water levels of the Punpun and Daradha rivers.
Additionally, he assessed the progress of protective and flood prevention works at the Kazi Koraiya-Raghopur dam in the Khariak block of Bhagalpur district, along with various erosion-affected areas. Chaudhary directed officials to maintain vigilance and continue flood-fighting operations in sensitive and erosion-prone regions with utmost readiness. He emphasized that the situation regarding floods and erosion is constantly changing, and officials should be prepared for any potential threats, ensuring immediate action when necessary.
He stressed the importance of continuous monitoring of flood-fighting efforts, urging officials to keep a close watch on sensitive areas. Chaudhary instructed that local information should be promptly acknowledged, and necessary steps should be taken without delay in any emergency situation. He also directed that regular monitoring of various regions in the state be ensured through the Control Command Center.
Chaudhary highlighted the need to gather real-time information about regional conditions through technology and video conferencing, enabling the immediate deployment of resources and rescue operations to affected areas as needed. He affirmed that the safety of the public in flood and erosion-affected regions is the top priority. Department officials and engineers must remain active in the field to monitor the situation continuously. He insisted on collaborating with local administration to control any potential damage in a timely manner.
The Deputy Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Water Resources Department’s secretary, engineers, and the entire team in tackling the challenges posed by floods. He encouraged the officials and staff, wishing them success and urging them to maintain the same level of readiness. He issued clear instructions that there should be no delays in protective works in areas at risk of erosion or rising water levels. The availability of machinery, materials, and human resources should be ensured as needed.
He noted that the Control Command Center plays a crucial role in monitoring flood situations and relaying information to relevant authorities.
