Tianjin, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Port Economic Cooperation Center was officially inaugurated in Tianjin on September 3, 2026. This initiative seeks to facilitate the sharing of port resources among SCO member nations, fostering mutual support and collaborative development. It aims to contribute to the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance openness in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Located within the Tianjin International Trade and Shipping Service Center, the SCO Port Economic Cooperation Center will focus on three key areas. First, it will promote innovation and upgrading in customs clearance models at ports. Second, it aims to deepen international openness and facilitate cooperation in maritime affairs. Lastly, the center will work to improve the quality of the port and shipping industry while continuously strengthening the port cooperation service network among SCO countries and those involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
In addition to this new center, Tianjin has also established a new framework known as “two platforms, two centers,” which includes the China-SCO Green Industry Cooperation Platform and the Digital Economy Cooperation Platform, both launched in September 2025.
