Kyiv, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar wrapped up his visit to Ukraine on Thursday by paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the National Botanical Garden in Kyiv.
Jaishankar shared his reflections on social media, stating, “I concluded my visit by honoring Mahatma Gandhi at the National Botanical Garden in Kyiv. His life and message underscore the need to move from endless war to peace.”
Earlier that day, Jaishankar met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They discussed ways to strengthen India-Ukraine bilateral relations and explored solutions to the ongoing conflict in the region.
After the meeting, Jaishankar tweeted, “It was a pleasure to meet President Zelensky today. I briefed him on discussions with Foreign Minister Andrii Sibih, focused on deepening bilateral cooperation. Our talks centered on ways to end the ongoing conflict.”
President Zelensky also took to social media, highlighting that both sides addressed significant issues, including the situation in the Black Sea. He expressed gratitude for India’s desire to end the unjust war against Ukraine, stating, “This is certainly not a time for war. Peace is needed, and this is India’s clear position.”
He added, “Today, as the minister was with us in Kyiv, Russia launched jet-powered ‘Shahed’ drones, which could not have been produced without Iranian assistance. Thanks to our fighter jets, the delegation remained safe, as most of these drones were shot down by Ukrainian aircraft. We hope that other strong nations will also adopt a clear stance on the need to end this war and establish reliable peace.”
