New Delhi, September 3: Opposition leaders have strongly condemned the demolition of a 100-year-old temple in Pakistan. They argue that acts of vandalism against religious sites are unacceptable.
Congress leader Imran Masood stated that it is tragic to destroy any religious site, regardless of its location. He emphasized that these sites predate the formation of nations and their destruction is entirely unconstitutional.
Congress MP Manoj Kumar, speaking to a news agency, highlighted the deep connections people have with their places of worship. He noted that Hindus find solace in temples, Muslims in mosques, and Christians in churches. He urged that careful consideration should precede any actions against religious sites, asserting that Pakistan should not have taken such a step. If there are valid reasons, the government must provide appropriate explanations to the public.
Congress leader Udit Raj remarked, “Pakistan is a failed state and a religious one at that. The current government seems to be following the same path. There is no democracy, and thus, religious minorities are not safe. Christians have disappeared, and Sikhs have also left. Since the partition, Hindus and Muslims have been divided, and many Hindus have continued to emigrate from there.”
Imran Masood also commented on the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the CEO of the Ram Temple, stating, “This is not my area of expertise. This work should have been done by saints. Was there no honest saint available? The theft occurred because this responsibility was taken away from the saints. Otherwise, wasn’t the work of Ram Lalla already in progress?”
