Udaipur, August 1 – In a major step towards environmental conservation, the Green Peepal Society (GPS) organized a large-scale tree plantation campaign under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” initiative at Mahatma Gandhi Government Senior Secondary School, Bari, located in the Badgaon Panchayat Samiti region of South Rajasthan.

The event was held in the presence of SDM Latika Paliwal as the chief guest, while GPS President Rahul Bhatnagar chaired the programme. With enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and the entire school staff, saplings of Peepal, Sheesham, Ashoka, and Jamun were planted within the school premises and nearby Gram Panchayat office.
As part of the 10-crore tree plantation initiative under “Hariyalo Rajasthan,” each student took the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” pledge, aligning with the Prime Minister’s appeal. The members of GPS also educated attendees on the importance of afforestation, shared technical knowledge about plantation methods, and explained how to grow plants through seeds and cuttings.
Further, the society emphasized the importance of community involvement in conserving water, soil, and the environment, urging all stakeholders to take responsibility.
Key attendees included Sharad Srivastava, Suhel Majboor, Yaseen Pathan, Ismail Ali Durga, P.S. Chundawat, Panchayat Administrator Madan Pandit, Chief Block Education Officer Deepak Gaur, Principal Sudhindra Shrimali, and school staff.
The event’s core objective was to instill environmental consciousness among students and to promote green cover in the region, marking another meaningful step toward sustainable living.
