Jaipur, August 13 (Kiran News) – The Rajasthan CID Intelligence has arrested Mahendra, a contractual manager at the DRDO Guest House, Chandan Field Firing Range, Jaisalmer, on charges of espionage. He was presented in court on Wednesday, where the agency sought a two-day remand. The court sent him to remand till August 15. During this period, all national intelligence agencies will interrogate him regarding the classified information allegedly shared with Pakistani spies.
Inspector General of Police, CID (Security), Dr. Vishnukant, said that during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ the agency received inputs that certain DRDO information was being sent to suspicious Pakistani numbers. Surveillance was initiated, and it was found that the accused had shared details of visiting DRDO scientists and information related to the operation with Pakistani handlers. This included operational plans, names of scientists visiting during periods of heightened tension between the two countries, and the type of planning and actions being undertaken. Sensitive strategic information and photographs were continuously transmitted to Pakistan during the operation. Investigators will also question him on the amount of money he received for supplying such information.
According to officials, Mahendra’s contact with Pakistani handlers increased significantly during ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Serving as the manager at DRDO’s Chandan Firing Range for a long time, he was privy to the schedules of senior officers and scientists who came for missile and weapons testing. It has been revealed that the accused stored his Pakistani handler’s contact under the name ‘Chandan’ in his mobile phone. He allegedly passed on confidential details about the movement of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers involved in missile and other weapons testing at the Chandan Field Firing Range.
