New Delhi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service are being celebrated with various events organized by the BJP. In response, Congress MP Amar Singh has criticized the celebrations, stating that while Modi can celebrate his tenure, the government should also address pressing public issues in Parliament and on public platforms.
Singh highlighted concerns related to students, GDP figures, the drug problem in Punjab, and ongoing debates about food choices. He stated that the events surrounding Modi’s milestone are primarily BJP’s initiative, and he has no objection to that. However, he emphasized the need for discussions on issues affecting the public. He noted that significant topics have not been adequately addressed in Parliament over the past 12-13 years. Singh mentioned student protests and the alleged profiling of students, insisting that the government must respond to youth-related concerns.
Addressing GDP statistics, Singh raised questions about the manipulation of economic data to present an inflated growth rate. He called for transparency regarding the changes in GDP figures and their calculation process.
In response to BJP National President Nitin Naveen‘s comments about Modi’s 25 years, Singh accused the BJP leadership of reverting to divisive politics based on religion and society. He claimed that the RSS-influenced BJP fosters division between Hindu and minority communities and promotes a caste-based societal divide. According to Singh, the BJP should focus on real public issues.
Supporting Rahul Gandhi‘s social media post about drug issues in Punjab, Singh made serious allegations against the state government. He claimed that those advocating against drugs and protesting have faced undue pressure. Singh accused the Punjab government of suppressing the concerns of employees and protesters, asserting that the public is eager for change in the upcoming elections, favoring a return of Congress over the Aam Aadmi Party.
Regarding comments made by Baba Bageshwar during Navratri about meat consumption, Singh stated that no one should dictate what others can eat or wear. He criticized the RSS and its affiliated political ideologies for attempting to control people’s dietary choices, attire, religious beliefs, and lifestyles. He argued that while India and the world advance, the politics of control over personal preferences hinders societal progress.
Singh concluded by asserting that personal freedom and choice must be respected in a democracy, urging political parties to focus on genuine issues such as employment, education, the economy, and public welfare.
