New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in New Delhi have enacted strict measures ahead of planned protests calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Various organizations, including the Aam Aadmi Party, leftist groups, and the Youth Congress, are set to gather at Jantar Mantar on Friday to voice their concerns.
In response, the Delhi Police have heightened security in VIP areas across the city. Thousands of personnel from the police and paramilitary forces have been deployed, particularly at the borders with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, to prevent any untoward incidents.
The Delhi Police announced via their official social media account that Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS), 2023, has been implemented as a precautionary measure in New Delhi. This prohibition aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Under this directive, gatherings of five or more individuals, processions, protests, and sit-ins are completely banned without prior written permission. Additionally, activities such as chanting slogans or making public speeches are also prohibited. The carrying of weapons, banners, placards, sticks, swords, or any other potentially harmful items is strictly forbidden.
The police have urged citizens, visitors, and all relevant parties to adhere to this order and refrain from participating in any unauthorized gatherings or restricted activities. They have warned that violations of this prohibition will result in strict legal action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (BNSS), 2023, and other applicable laws.
