
New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : On October 2, leaders from various opposition parties gathered to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. Among them was Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who emphasized that Shastri’s life, filled with Gandhian values and high ideals, continues to inspire generations.
Kharge took to social media platform X, stating, “The life of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, a symbol of simplicity, integrity, and national service, is an extraordinary example of dedication to India.” He highlighted Shastri’s significant contributions, from land reforms to laying the groundwork for the Green and White Revolutions, and his leadership during the 1965 war.
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, also honored Shastri, expressing his deep respect on this special day. Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar shared his tribute on X, praising Shastri for grounding his public life in simplicity and duty, and for his courageous decisions during challenging times.
Supriya Sule, a Member of Parliament from the NCP-SP alliance, noted that Shastri is remembered for his call of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan,” recognizing him as a paragon of duty and patriotism. She offered her humble tribute on this significant occasion.
Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, also joined in honoring Shastri’s legacy, reflecting the widespread respect for the former Prime Minister across the political spectrum.
