Kolkata, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Naveen, is set to arrive in West Bengal for a two-day visit on September 15. His itinerary promises to be packed with activities.
A member of the state BJP committee revealed that Naveen will hold several organizational meetings with state party leaders during his stay. He will be accompanied by B.L. Santosh, the party’s all-India general secretary (organization). These discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including the formation of a new state committee and necessary organizational changes.
During their visit, both Naveen and Santosh are anticipated to provide guidance to ensure better coordination between the party’s organization and the state government.
Since the BJP’s rise to power in West Bengal following the assembly elections, there has been a notable improvement in the party’s organizational strength across the districts. However, several organizational shortcomings have also come to the attention of both state and central leadership.
Concerns have been raised about the roles of some party leaders and workers at the grassroots level. Allegations of corruption have surfaced, along with reports of disagreements between new and veteran party members in various regions. These issues are likely to be addressed in meetings led by Naveen later this month.
Additionally, the state committee member indicated that the visit will also focus on finalizing strategies for crucial municipal elections, including those for urban local bodies scheduled for the end of the year.
The state BJP is particularly serious about the upcoming elections for urban local bodies, especially in Kolkata and Howrah. The party has begun strategizing for these elections, with state leadership emphasizing the need for improved organizational coordination among grassroots leaders and workers. There are high expectations for messages from the national president regarding this matter.
