Chhattisgarh Minister Criticizes Congress Over Vande Mataram Controversy

Raipur, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Raipur, September 9 — Chhattisgarh Minister OP Choudhary has launched a sharp critique against the Congress party amid the ongoing debate surrounding “Vande Mataram.” He accused Congress of engaging in appeasement politics and urged the party to clarify its stance on the national song that praises Mother India. Choudhary also supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concerns regarding Congress’s electoral promises.

Responding to Modi’s statement urging the public to review Rahul Gandhi and Congress’s past performance before trusting their promises, Choudhary questioned Congress’s long tenure in power. He pointed out that the party ruled India for nearly 50 years after independence but allegedly harmed the country’s economic and political systems during that time. He referenced the economic turmoil leading up to 1991 and the Emergency period, asserting that Congress’s track record is evident to the public.

Choudhary claimed that Congress has practiced power-centric politics to maintain its long-standing dominance. He stated that Modi aims to remind the public of this history, and citizens are increasingly aware of Congress’s political legacy.

Addressing the “Vande Mataram” controversy, Choudhary questioned why Congress would object to honoring Mother India. He emphasized the importance of the song, which is associated with the worship of Goddess Durga and the spirit of national pride. According to him, Congress should clarify its position on singing “Vande Mataram.” He noted that political forces responsible for the country’s partition later adopted a divisive stance towards this song. Choudhary highlighted that India’s unity and cultural heritage have historically served to connect society.

He accused Congress of compromising the culture of national unity for electoral gains through appeasement. In contrast, he described the BJP’s policy as “no appeasement to anyone, justice for all.” He affirmed that the BJP considers India’s unity and integrity as fundamental elements of its political agenda and manifesto. Choudhary concluded by stating that political parties should clarify their positions on issues like “Vande Mataram” and present a clear perspective on matters related to national unity.
