Family Protest Outside Mortuary

Following the incident, Priti’s family staged a protest outside the mortuary, refusing to accept the body and demanding a thorough investigation. Tensions flared when heated arguments broke out between the family members and police officers.

Student Left Home for School, Found Dead in Kota

According to police, Priti had left home in the morning, telling her family she was going to Mahatma Gandhi English School, located about 3 km from her village. However, instead of attending school, she traveled nearly 120 km to Kota and checked into Room No. 112 at RN Hotel in the Nayapura locality.

When checkout time arrived in the evening, hotel staff repeatedly knocked on her door but received no response. After several attempts, they peeked through the ventilator and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. Police were called immediately, who broke open the door and recovered the body.

Officials found her school ID card and Aadhaar card in the room.

CCTV Cameras Were Off During Incident

The hotel manager told police that Priti had checked in alone. However, investigators later found that the hotel’s CCTV cameras were non-functional at the time of the incident, raising questions about possible tampering or foul play.

Family Alleges Murder, Demands Action

Priti’s uncle, Ramraj alias Ravi, said her father had passed away earlier, and she lived with her mother. He claimed that the family had filed a missing person report at the Kelwara police station around 4:30 p.m., but officers failed to take swift action.

“If the police had acted on time, my niece might still be alive. This is not suicide — it’s murder,” Ramraj alleged.

Investigation Underway

The Nayapura Police have initiated an investigation, examining both murder and suicide angles. Call detail records (CDRs) are being analyzed to determine who Priti was in contact with before her death. Police have also begun questioning the hotel staff and owner regarding security lapses.

The body has been sent for post-mortem by a medical board, and officials say the case will be pursued with “complete transparency.”
