
Raipur, April 15: The death toll from the devastating accident at the Vedanta Power Plant in Sakti district, Chhattisgarh, has risen to 12. Reports indicate that four individuals died at the scene, while the remaining casualties succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai expressed his condolences on social media, describing the incident as extremely tragic and painful. He announced that the state government will provide ₹500,000 in assistance to the families of the deceased workers and ₹50,000 to the injured, ensuring immediate relief.
The Chief Minister has directed that all injured individuals receive proper and free medical treatment. He wishes for their swift recovery. The Bilaspur Commissioner has been tasked with investigating the incident, and strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible. The government is closely monitoring the situation and stands in solidarity with the affected families.
The rising death toll has sparked outrage among the families of the victims and the injured. Many of the injured workers had come from Kolkata for employment. The families are demanding that Vedanta management provide a job to a family member of each deceased and offer a compensation of at least ₹5 million. Meanwhile, local authorities and police are actively investigating the matter.
