Udaipur, April 15, 2026 (Daily Kiran): Hindustan Zinc has been officially declared the successful bidder for a combined potash and halite mineral block in Rajasthan after completing all statutory processes.

The block is located in the Jhandawali-Satipura area of Hanumangarh district and spans over 1,800 hectares. It was allocated under the Government of India’s tranche-5 e-auction process. The company had earlier been identified as the preferred bidder through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Centre.
With this development, Hindustan Zinc is set to further strengthen its position in India’s critical minerals ecosystem. The company has also recently secured a tungsten block in Andhra Pradesh and a rare earth elements block in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
Commenting on the achievement, CEO and Whole-Time Director Arun Misra said that being declared the successful bidder reflects the company’s operational strength and commitment to securing critical mineral resources for the country. He added that the milestone reinforces the company’s strategic position as India continues to prioritise resource security and self-reliance.
Potash is a key mineral for the fertiliser industry and plays an essential role in the production of NPK fertilisers that support India’s agricultural economy. At present, India relies entirely on imports from countries such as Canada, Belarus, and Jordan to meet its potash requirements. The development is expected to reduce import dependency and improve access to affordable fertilisers, strengthening the agriculture sector in the long term.
Aligned with its long-term strategy, Hindustan Zinc aims to build a strong portfolio of high-quality mineral assets with significant growth potential. Leveraging its expertise in exploration, project development, and sustainable mining practices, the company seeks to create value from these assets while contributing to India’s resource security.
