
Mumbai, April 15: The Indian stock market opened with significant gains on Wednesday. The Sensex surged by 1,133.53 points, or 1.48%, reaching 77,981.10, while the Nifty climbed 321.15 points, or 1.35%, to open at 24,163.80.
In the early trading session, IT stocks led the market rally, with the Nifty IT index emerging as the top gainer. Almost all indices, including Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Metal, Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Realty, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Commodity, and Nifty Media, were in the green.
Large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks also traded positively. The Nifty Midcap 100 index rose by 1,150 points, or 2.01%, to 58,679, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index gained 322 points, or 1.92%, reaching 17,080.
All 30 stocks in the Sensex pack were in the green. Notable gainers included Indigo, Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech, L&T, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, SBI, Trent, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, and Maruti Suzuki.
Hitesh Taylor, a research analyst at Choice Equity Broking Pvt Ltd, noted that the Indian stock market had a positive start. However, he cautioned investors to remain vigilant due to global market volatility.
He further advised that, considering current trends and market fluctuations, it may be wise for investors to buy fundamentally strong stocks during dips.
Global markets are also witnessing an upward trend. Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Jakarta are all in the green, while U.S. stock markets closed higher.
Earlier, on April 13, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹1,983 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) remained net buyers, investing over ₹2,400 crore.
