Kolkata, June 7: Samik Bhattacharya, the West Bengal BJP state president, responded to allegations surrounding a purported liquor scam linked to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Abhishek Banerjee. He emphasized that the BJP is not involved in the actions being taken against TMC leaders. According to him, agencies are operating according to their regulations.
In a conversation on Saturday, Bhattacharya stated that the BJP does not believe in personal political vendettas. He noted that Mamata Banerjee is no longer in power, and her party is fracturing. Internal strife and division are evident within the TMC. At such a time, Bhattacharya asserted that the BJP has no intention of engaging in any form of political revenge.
He mentioned that agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are functioning according to their rules, and the law will take its course without BJP interference.
Bhattacharya highlighted that following the 2021 assembly election results, 56 BJP workers were killed within 27 days, and several female workers accused TMC leaders of sexual assault, yet no action was taken.
He expressed that the BJP aims for peace, investment, employment, and development in the state. Their goals include preventing migration, improving the education system, and providing a better quality of life for citizens.
Regarding investment in West Bengal, he noted that a positive atmosphere is emerging, potentially attracting major investors like Tata once again. He pointed out that the state has abundant natural resources, a favorable geographical position, strong agriculture, fertile land, and skilled labor, making it highly suitable for investment.
Bhattacharya claimed that the previous lack of investment was due to a lack of will, but conditions are changing. He anticipates visible development in the state soon, with changes felt by the people. He stated that signs of progress will begin to emerge within the next 100 days.
