Mamata Banerjee Meets Arvind Kejriwal Ahead of India Block Meeting

New Delhi, June 7: Just before the India Block meeting scheduled for Monday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, met with Mamata Banerjee, the former Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The meeting took place in New Delhi on Sunday, with TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee also in attendance. The TMC shared details of the meeting on the social media platform ‘X’.

The party stated, “Our Chairperson Mamata Banerjee and our National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee met with Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.”

The post further noted that the two leaders had a fruitful discussion and explored future pathways in detail.

The TMC added that when the people of India unite, no power in the world can hinder their steps towards justice, respect, and a better future by 2029.

It is noteworthy that while the TMC is set to participate in the India Block meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party has chosen to distance itself from the gathering.

Not only the Aam Aadmi Party, but other parties have also decided to boycott the meeting.

DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai stated in a conversation with a news agency that their party has opted out of the India Block meeting because they do not wish to be in a space where Congress is present. He accused Congress of betrayal, claiming they have undermined the efforts and hard work of DMK workers before switching sides. He described this as a prime example of opportunism.

He emphasized that if the party participates or is seen in a setting where Congress is involved, it would be an insult to all DMK cadres.

CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah remarked that as the largest party in the alliance, Congress bears significant responsibility.

He mentioned that the largest party in any coalition plays a crucial role in uniting the front, but unfortunately, Congress leaders are not demonstrating the necessary wisdom.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti expressed his heartfelt request to the political parties forming the India Block alliance, stating that in his view, Congress is collaborating with the BJP to weaken regional and smaller parties across the country, allowing both BJP and Congress to alternate in ruling the nation. Due to Congress’s dual approach, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to distance itself from the alliance.
